Though large banks often grab the headlines, community banks are often turned to for commercial loans by medium and small businesses in the Alamo City.
 
Along with the local economy in general, commercial and industrial lending at the city's largest community banks is also up, having grown by more than 35% third-quarter 2019, according to the most recent data available from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
