MARIA BREEN TO LEAD PRIVATE BANKING FOR THE BANK OF SAN ANTONIO

The Bank of San Antonio has a new head of private banking — Maria Breen. Born and raised in San Antonio, Breen has over 30 years of financial services experience and has become a leader in the field of private banking. She joins The Bank of San Antonio to help her clients manage their wealth, so they can build the lives and legacies that they envision.

The Bank of San Antonio’s local focus on banking and its admirable track record as a community advocate made the decision to join the team an easy one for Breen. With experience working in banks both large and small, she knew The Bank of San Antonio was the right home for her because of its ability to make decisions on a local level that positively impact the community at large.

To Breen, one of the most important aspects of working in private banking is advocating for her clients and community in meaningful ways. Her philosophy on private banking is intertwined with her love for serving others through non-profit organizations. When asked about what is most important to her in private banking, Breen replied, “I think it's the advocacy. I do a lot of that personally. I'm involved in non-profits and have been my entire life. So to me, it's just an offshoot of that passion for taking care of people in the community and that's what this is about, that's what this role does every day.”

Breen believes every person has goals and aspirations for themselves and their families, and capturing these desires and translating them to an actionable financial or estate plan is what leads to the most successful outcomes. “To me, all the best advice in the world isn’t worth the paper it’s written on if clients don’t understand it and it hasn’t captured their unique perspective and voice.”

Breen sees herself as a guide for her clients because she believes that her clients are more than capable of making the best decisions for their wealth when the right options are presented clearly. Breen says, “My role is to make sure that they always know what all their options are and what's available to them so that they can make their best decision. It is not only providing the right solution at the right time and building the right team around them, but it's also about listening to them and understanding what's important — what's important to them is important to me.”

Although 2020 was a difficult year for everyone, Breen is proud of the way that the San Antonio community banded together to help each other in innovative ways. Looking forward to 2021, she has some advice for her clients: “Everyone should revisit their estate plan and get their new year off to a great start. We could not have foreseen how the pandemic touched virtually every aspect of our lives and has caused many of us to see things differently. Making sure their plans reflect these feelings and focusing on things they can control can give much needed peace of mind for my clients and their families.”
